”A Tribute to Desmond Dekker”
In terms of Jamaican music, Desmond Dekker truly deserves the title superstar.
Unfortunately Dekker himself passed away last year, but his music will never die and
is brought to the audience at Carib Music Fest in Stavanger this very summer by his
band The Aces and exclusive special guests.
They play Desmond Dekkers’ well known and everlasting hits,
including “Israelites” and “007 (Shanty Town)”. Be prepared to groove and swing and sing along!
Jah Bobby & Pharfar (DK)
Jah Bobby Original Jamaican Roots reggae singer, currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark. La Descarga
The band was established in 1986 by a Norwegian travelling to Cuba to investigate the secrets of the salsa music. From then on the band has developed and their popularity grown, thanks to their rresistible energy and musical repetoir, spanning from pure salsa and cha cha cha to the funkiest timba. La Descarga’s music is a unique blend of high temperature and floor fillers that easily compare with the greatest international salsa. This is a concert that will definitely make you hot and sweaty on the latin dance floor!.
Grønn Te
Grønn Te (Green Tea) is William from Rubadub's sideproject. He's back with a new project with Norwegian lyrics and cool, tropical rythms of reggae and rumba. The band is a global gypsy gathering with musicians from Sandnes, Marocco, Stavanger and Hamar!.
Troubletone Sound System
Troubletone International from Stavanger are veterans in norwegian dancehall reggae. They are Norway's oldest "sound system" with a history from way back in the 80's. Troubletone have released several mix tapes, they have their own web-radio and participate in many national and international shows. At a Troubletone dance you can hear everything from 60's reggae , ska, and hard ragga to drum n' bass
Steel Drums Ungdomsband
13 members aged 9 to 16, and playing exotic toned steel drums.
